The Grosse Pointe South High School mothers’ club hired us in 2015 to restore their 1928 #16 Seth Thomas, magnetic release tower clock movement and four 5-foot diameter Seth Thomas dials. Many of the original pieces were missing and needed to be made. Electrical release tower clocks were operated from a master clock that also operated the clocks in all the class rooms, a very rare type of tower clock mechanism. We were able to save and reuse most of the original Vitrolite dial glass. We came back a year after the restoration to build a dust cover or clock house to protect their #16 Seth Thomas tower clock. The restoration was dedicated to the memory of Katie Pinney Ecclestone in 2015. Katie was the president of the Mothers’ Club.
